6 Day Climbing Camp

Rock climb in world class climbing areas, practice new rope skills, and navigate the popular Whistler Via Ferrata!

Stawamus Climbing Camp is for youth ages 7-12 and 13-18. Campers will explore different styles of climbing, learn new rope skills, navigate a via ferrata, and be able to perfect their climbing techniques. Our experienced guides will set everything up and provide helpful advice along the way, including direct supervision to ensure the safety and climbing success of each camper. We offer a variety of climbs to suit every everyone’s abilities and enthusiasm!

When not climbing, campers will sightsee along the Squamish to Whislter corridor, go on nature walks and be able to participate in fun games at basecamp.

Stawamus Climbing Camp includes all meals, accommodation, transportation, 24-hour supervision, all activities & tours, gondola tickets, gear rentals and all safety equipment.

Sites & Locations

Campers will explore and climb in popular sites along the Sea to Sky, ranging from Squamish to Whistler. Locations visited include:

  • Whistler Blackcomb Mountain
  • Murrin Park trails and crags
  • Squamish Smoke Bluffs trails and crags
  • Alice Lake trails
  • Garibaldi Park trails

Activities

  • Rock Climb – Whether campers are new rock climbers, or are gearing up to perfect their skills, our certified guides will ensure that everyone is achieving personal growth – along with having fun of course!
  • Whistler Via Ferrata Tour –  Campers will navigate a series of  iron rungs and cable bridges up to Whistler Peak. This activity is exhilarating and requires no experience!
  • Peak to Peak Gondola – Campers will ride the gondola and see breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of Whistler’s village, mountains and peaks.
  • Rope Skills & Techniques – Campers receive one on one direction and coaching to build a solid foundation of correct climbing techniques.
  • Low Ropes Course – Campers use teamwork and strategy to complete an exciting challenge games course.
  • Nature Walks – Campers will explore the seasonal highlights of Squamish’s natural side and leave refreshed, ready for their next adventure!

Base Camp

The Cheakamus Centre is immersed in nature, surrounded by old growth forest and greenspaces. It is a dynamic centre of excellence in environmental and experiential learning and will serve as the camper’s home base.

Packing List

The camps will operate in all weather conditions. Campers must be prepared to spend the day outside in all types of weather: sunshine, rain, wind, etc. Please plan and dress accordingly. We suggest downloading our recommended packing list.

The Details

  • Is transportation included?

    The adventure camps will include transportation to/from the activities. This leaves time for campers to sit back and enjoy the scenery of the Sea to Sky corridor.

  • Where will I be staying?

    Camp participants will stay in one of 9 rustic heated cabins at the Cheakamus Centre, Squamish BC. The centre offers year-round lodging tucked away in a peaceful natural surrounding. To see a layout of the cabins, click here.

  • What food is included?

    Food will be prepared and served by the Cheakamus Centre’s chefs. Cheakamus supplies locally sourced and thoughtfully prepared meals. Meals contain wholesome ingredients, making food from scratch, using their own herbs and vegetables from their garden. “This way we accommodate a wide range of special dietary needs, food intolerances and allergies without having to radically alter the menu, minimizing “special” servings. Sugar reduced diets, vegetarians, vegan meals, gluten free, and other food allergies are all far easier to accommodate when you use whole ingredients and are certain of their source.”

    *Cheakamus Centre is a nut-restricted facility, which includes all meals provided by Cheakamus Centre. In addition, any snacks containing nuts or nut products provided by an individual is strictly prohibited. This also includes any skin care and hair products that may contain nuts

  • Who is supervising my children/family?

    Mountain Skills Academy & Adventure’s certified guides and instructors are providing 24-hour supervision for camp participants. The team is made up of long-term guides and outdoor educators with years of experience.

  • What is the camp cancellation policy?

  • What paperwork do I need to sign?

    Registration for camp and adventure activities requires signing 3 waiver documents, a medical form and reading over the information package thoroughly. Please download the documents below, fill in, sign and return to Mountain Skills Academy & Adventures for registration to be completed. Children under 19 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

    In addition, please be through with any medical or food conditions as well as listing an emergency contact outside of the participants attending camp.
