Bringing out the best in your child is what we do best here at MSAA and you’ll get the very best support from our highly trained, certified guides. This five-day, all-inclusive climbing camp is designed to provide teenagers with the skills to rock climb outdoors.

Our Teen Climbing Camps give your children the chance to explore different styles of climbing (top rope, lead, trad), learn rope skills, safety habits, and build climbing techniques.

This program provides 13 – 16 year-olds with a full week of instruction, skills progression & enjoyment!

Camp Location: This camp is located in Squamish. Teens will be grouped based on previous climbing experience, and given individual mentorship to develop skills.

CAMP INFORMATION

Learn new skills, develop techniques & have fun in one of North America's best rock climbing destinations. Our Teen Climbing Camps give your children the chance to explore different styles of climbing (top rope, lead, trad), learn rope skills, safety habits, and build climbing techniques. Our certified climbing guides set everything up and provide helpful advice along the way. Designed to ensure the safety and climbing success of each teen.

Our Teen Climbing Camps are geared towards teenagers between the ages of 13-16. Teenagers are closely supervised by our highly trained guides.

Key Learning Components:
    Rock Movement Skills: Outdoor rock movement skills focusing on multiple core climbing techniques.
    Rock Systems: Belaying safely, safety checks, rope management, anchors, top-rope set up, rappelling & more.
    Other Essential Skills: Climbing grades and your ability, leave no trace and wildlife awareness, climbing hazards and safety, essential climbing knots, rock climbing terminology and commands & more.
Goals and Objectives:

This Rock Climbing Camp is a comprehensive introduction to outdoor rock climbing, both for beginners who have never climbed outdoors before and for indoor climbers who would like to start climbing outdoors.

As well as catering for beginner climbers, this camp is also great for young climbers with previous climbing exerperience to receive instruction based on their skills level. Our small groups (MAX ratio of 6:1) allows everyone to receive personal instruction to enhance their progression.

Camp includes climbing tours and instruction, climbing gear rentals, and all safety equipment.

Drop Off: 9am at the Smoke Bluffs Parking Lot
Pick Up: 4pm at the Smoke Bluffs Parking Lot

Details:

All those attending this camp must be between the ages of 13-16 at the time of the camp and must posess a high level of maturity.

Sample Daily Itinerary:

Each day your children will be split into different groups depending on their skills level in order to maximize their progression.

The mornings will focus on learning techinal skills, then the afternoons will be spent climbing!

What do I need to pack for camp?
Clothing:
  • Comfortable, loose clothing
  • Weatherproof shell jacket and pants. Shorts are acceptable depending on conditions
  • Warm layer(s)
  • Light gloves
  • Hiking shoes or sturdy closed-toe shoes
  • Rock Climbing Shoes
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen (or any other UV protection)
  • Water in a refillable water bottle
  • Lunch (Please make sure your child has a full lunch to keep them energized throughout the day)
  • Snacks (Please no items containing nuts)
  • Small Backpack
  • Hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen and bug spray
Climbing Gear:
  • Helmet
  • Belay device
  • Locking carabiner (minimum of 1, but more is great)
  • (the above items can be provided if you don’t own them)

Weather varies from warm, dry days to cooler, rainy days. Daily temperatures in the Sea to Sky Corridor in July and August range from 12-24 degrees Celsius (55-75 degrees Fahrenheit).

Bring a mix of summer clothing and warmer clothing as well as a small backpack to carry a water bottle and any extra layers in case the weather changes while we are out.

Sample Day Itinerary:

A typical day at camp comprises of two activities, one activity in the morning then another in the afternoon. Exceptional instruction from our trained guides, partnered with a remarkable location makes MSAA Kids Mountain Adventure Camp a unique and special place.

Schedule:

Day 1: Drop off location for the first day will be at the Squamish Municipal Campground.

Day 3: Pick-up location for the final day will be at the Squamish Municipal Campground.

Breakfast:

Breakfast will be served by our guides to fuel the you ready for a full day of activities. Breakfast includes:

Morning Climb

Lunch:

Worked up an appetite? It's time to replenish your energy stores ready for the afternoon activities. If you still have energy left the guide will be ready for a quick game or you can chat with new friends your have made!

Afternoon Climb

Dinner:

Time for dinner - a different meal will be prepared by your guide each evening! We will also be serving a delicious pudding or you can stick with fruit if you prefer.

*dinner is not included on the final day

Evening Entertainment:

Campfires, quizzes and much more in the evening. Enjoy the evening with your new friends you have made during your days activities.

Bedtime:

Time to chill out after a hard day full of fun activities! Then lights out and time to sleep before doing the same all over again tomorrow.
