Teresa Yau is an ACMG Apprentice Rock Guide & Top Rope Climbing Instructor (TRCI). She is an Active Member of the Canadian Avalanche Association, and a CSIA Level 2 Ski Instructor. Teresa is working her way through the Mountain Guide program. She holds a B.Sc in Kinesiology and B.Ed in Environmental Education. Teresa speaks Cantonese, basic Mandarin, and Spanish.
Teresa was born in Edmonton and grew up in Vancouver. She left for 5 years to follow her passions, traveling as a teacher in Mexico, Beijing, and Australia and rock climbing in New Zealand, Vietnam, and the USA. On her return to Canada she moved to Squamish getting hooked on alpine-, ice-climbing, and backcountry ski touring.
Through this journey, instructing has always been a huge part of her life, from teaching piano and swimming, to currently teaching avalanche skills, ski instructing and rock climbing. She believes strongly in education through experience and hopes to share her many passions and interests with you! Teresa is currently based in Squamish, but you can often find her playing and learning in the Rockies or anywhere in between!
