INTRODUCTION TO BACKCOUNTRY SKIING & SPLITBOARDING
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Spend a day with one of our patient, professional guides and learn to enjoy the backcountry. No backcountry experience is required to do the Intro to Backcountry Skiing and Splitboarding.
There is no better place in the world to learn backcountry skiing than Whistler and our guides will ensure you have an enjoyable and educational day. This is a must-do tour to complete your stay in Whistler.
DETAILS:
- Avalanche safety equipment is not included (transceiver, shovel, probe)
- Touring skis/splitboard required.
- Geared for beginner skiers or snowboarders looking at getting into backcountry travel. For those with backcountry experience we reccomend booking Whistler Backcountry Ski & Splitboard Tour.
- Participants must be comfortable and confident in intermediate terrain [blue runs] in a variety of snow conditions. If you are unsure of your ability, please contact us for more information.
- Groups can expect 2 – 4 runs for the day, depending on ability and fitness level
- Transportation is not included.
Lift Ticket: If you do NOT currently possess a valid Whistler Blackcomb lift ticket (Seasons Pass, Spirit Pass, Edge Card, Epic Pass, etc.), you may buy a Lift Ticket through our office at checkout.

GUIDED BACKCOUNTRY SKIING
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Join one of Whistler’s leading backcountry provider and enjoy awesome backcountry skiing and splitboarding around the Whistler Blackcomb ski area. The big-mountain backcountry outside of the ski area offers a multitude of bowls, glaciers and gladed runs to choose from.
DETAILS:
- Avalanche safety equipment is not included (transceiver, shovel, probe)
- Touring skis/splitboard required.
- If you are a either a beginner or first time heading into the backcountry we suggest taking either our Introduction to Backcountry Course or our Foundation Backcountry Tour
- Participants must be comfortable and confident in terrain equivalent to a blue run in deep powder conditions. If you are unsure of your ability, please contact us for more information.
- Groups can expect 3 – 5 runs and up to 5,000 ft of vertical descent for the day, depending on ability and fitness level

ICE CLIMBING EXPERIENCE
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
First time climbers will be introduced to ice climbing at a smaller, easier wall. It’s a surprisingly simple activity that any moderately fit person can enjoy.
No climbing experience necessary. All ice climbing equipment is included. Experience an adventure unlike any other under the direct supervision of a professional guide.
DETAILS:
- To climb on Blackcomb you must be at least an intermediate skier or snowboarder to access the climbing site. Off-resort locations are available that do not require skiing depending on ice condition.
This is a Full Day Adventure starting at 8:30am and finishing at 4:30pm. Our favourable location is on Blackcomb mountain which requires access via the gondola.

You will need a ski pass to access Whistler Blackcomb. If you don’t already have a season pass we sell this when booking!
To access the climbing site you need ski or snowboarding gear. If you are not sure about this contact us or you can rent from many rental shops in Whistler.

ICE CAVE ADVENTURE
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
An adventure that should be on everyone’s bucket list! Journey into the Coast Mountains on an easy mountaineering style adventure to visit a series of majestic ice caves. Explore deep inside a glacier with a certified guide and touch the ancient glacial ice.
DETAILS:
This incredible trip includes a scenic helicopter approach, a fun and easy trek on the glacier before a guided interpretive discovery of the ice caves.

Afterwards trek over an ancient glacier to explore glacial caverns, their crystal ceilings glowing a brilliant blue.

We offer several different tours, each destination wonderful with a focus on aesthetics and special viewpoints of interest. A snowshoe hike with a professional guide allows you to explore the wilderness with the reassurance of a safe and memorable outing.
DETAILS:
CRATER RIM SNOWSHOE HIKE (HALF DAY: up to 4 hours | Distance: 9km | Elevation: 400m): Follow a rocky trail towards Logger’s Lake that quickly gains elevation as excellent views of the valley start to pop up.
JOFFRE LAKES SNOWSHOE HIKE (FULL DAY: up to 8 hours | Distance: 7.5km | Elevation: 500m): Joffre Lakes in the winter becomes a paradise. Although the lake is frozen over and hiding the beautiful turquoise waters, Joffre takes on more of a serene beauty.
LAVA LAKE SNOWSHOE HIKE (HALF DAY: up to 4 hours | Distance: 9km | Elevation: 210m): This low-level trail is perfect for families and beginner snowshoers. Escape into a winter wonderland as you navigate through beautiful snow dusted trees.

Squamish via ferrata
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Join us at the Sea to Sky Gondola for our Squamish Via Ferrata adventure.
On this 1-1.5 hour adventure, you easily grab and step on ladder-like rungs, cross exhilarating suspension bridges, and take in the scenic beauty of ocean fjords and snowy peaks all while safely attached to the rock with fixed cables.
DETAILS:
- Using a special lanyard system you will clip yourself onto the cable and climb the rock headwall using a series of ladder rungs that lead you to the top of the Sea to Sky Gondola.
The tour takes up to 1.5 hours during which you will discover mountain terrain and ancient forests.
Lift Ticket: Our Squamish Via Ferrata is located at the Sea to Sky Gondola. A lift ticket or season pass is required to participate. More details below.
