Whatever your ability or backcountry experience, whether looking for the ultimate adventure to test your mettle in amazing terrain or to simply experience the satisfaction of gaining unrestricted views in untouched wilderness, we offer several different tours, each unique.

Our multi-day trips are designed to equip you with basic outdoor skills for safe mountain travel and self-reliance in the backcountry should you pursue your own future wilderness endeavors.

All trips include interpretive information on fauna, flora, local geology, glaciology, mountain culture and natural history. Depending on the trip, basic skills-building may include:

  • Overnight backpacking packing tips
  • Hiking efficiency techniques, functional movement and energy-management
  • Backcountry hygiene, environmental considerations
  • Camp kitchen craft
  • Hazards assessment, route planning, terrain interpretation and decision-making
  • Weather observations
  • Safe scrambling essentials. Scrambling is off-trail ascending and descending on boulders, ridges, narrow paths or loose rocks, involving more technical terrain where hand-holds and sure footing is required to pass sections

Duration 4-7hrs of hiking travel per day, leaving from Whistler (unless otherwise specified), departure times vary based on trip.

Typical trip:

  • Day 1: hike to camp, 4-7hrs, set-up, relax, plan next day
  • Day 2: explore surrounding viewpoints with a light daypack, swim, relax
  • Day 3: Tear down camp, pack, with an option to explore additional viewpoints on return or a leisurely hike back 4-7 hours

Other Hiking Tours Full Day Wilderness Hike / Half Day Wilderness Hike

We offer scheduled backpacking trips of various challenges and unique beauty to different locations in Sea to Sky Coast Mountains area. Private and custom trips are also available.

Linger under a starry sky and wake to the gentle warmth of a cresting sunrise. Below are some of our favourite backcountry camping adventures. Keep in mind that some of the more popular destinations are less secluded and therefore for those specific locations we favour week-day trip dates for a more exclusive outing.

To ensure the best experience, final tour destinations are subject to change based on the guide’s assessment of participant objectives, weather, and mountain conditions.

Important Information

We strongly recommend you purchase insurance for Trip Cancellation, Emergency Evacuation and Adventure Sports Coverage (some backcountry adventures are excluded from coverage).

Emergency Evacuation and Medical Insurance

This coverage provides you with emergency air rescue if required and full medical. Parks Canada provides free evacuation within the Parks and if you are a Canadian resident your medical will be covered by your provincial health plan (except ambulance/air ambulance transport). We strongly recommend international visitors purchase this insurance.

Emergency evacuation insurance is compulsory for all our hut trips, as these typically take place outside of Parks Canada’s jurisdiction.

Trip Cancellation Insurance

To prepare for unforeseen circumstances we strongly recommend purchasing Trip Cancellation Insurance at the time of booking your trip. Trip Cancellation insurance covers many scenarios to reimburse you for cancelled trips outside of your control.
