The Private Mountaintop Adventures Package is a full day of our best activities. Combine any 2 or 3 of our mountaintop adventures into one amazing day!  Your private guide leads your group of up to 6 people on a day of your design. Depending on your level of adventure, you can do any of the following activities: Via Ferrata, SkyWalk, Glacier Glissading, Glacier Discovery, Glacier Ascent, and hiking. There will be a break for lunch when you can go to the Roundhouse and take a break before your afternoon activities. The day starts at 8:30am and goes until 4pm or until you can’t handle anymore fun, whichever comes first!

Peak 2 Peak gondola tickets and lunch are not included in the price. Some tours are only available while mountain conditions permit so depending on when you visit, there may be some tours excluded from the list of options. We will discuss this when you book.

Adventure Information

Choose any 2 or 3 of the following adventures to make your own action-packed day!

  1. Via Ferrata is a thrilling sky-high activity (approx. 4 hours) where you grab and step on metal rungs set into the mountainside to allow you to climb up in safety to the peak of Whistler. You can do it!
  2. SkyWalk is an easy hike along the edge of Whistler Mountain with gorgeous views (1-1.5 hours)
  3. Glacier Discovery is a 2 hour hike and interpretive tour to the base of the Whistler Glacier where you learn about the formation of the local mountains and the flora and fauna of Whistler.
  4. Glacier Ascent is a truly Canadian mountaineering adventure. Use glacier axes to hike up the glacier while roped together and enjoy the sights from the ancient glacier.
  5. Glacier Glissading is just plain fun! Hike up and slide down on summer snow. Go as fast or as slow as you want and enjoy being a kid again!
  6. Hike the Half Note trail as your guide shows you the many mountain peaks that surround Whistler and see the quiet side of the mountain where you might encounter pikas, marmots, ravens, and Whiskey Jacks.

Peak 2 Peak 360 or summer sightseeing tickets for Whistler Blackcomb are required for this tour. Lift tickets should be purchased before the day of the tour and are available for purchase through our office, online at www.WhistlerBlackcomb.com, and from Whistler Blackcomb Guest Relations.

Groups must be a maximum of 6 named guests (you cannot change to other participants from one activity to the next).

Included: Harness, helmet and any other safety gear required for each tour.

Duration: 6 – 8 hours
This tour takes place at the top of Whistler Mountain. Temperatures and weather change quickly so come prepared with layers for cool or wet weather.

Tour Check In:

9:00 am tours meet your guide at 8:45 am at the Escape Route Alpine Demo Centre down in the village. Don’t be late! You will ride up the Whistler Village Gondola with the guide to the mountaintop office where you will be outfitted with your gear. You can also borrow hiking boots here.

There is a lunch break at mid-day when you can get lunch at the Roundhouse (not included in the tour price).

In the afternoon you will start your next adventure with your guide. The guide will determine whether you will be able to complete 2 or 3 activities based on the speed and ability of the group members as the day progresses.

All technical equipment is included.
Here is a list of items that are good to bring:

  • Weatherproof jacket and pants. Shorts are acceptable depending on conditions
  • Warm mid layer
  • 2nd pair of socks (in case your feet get damp from snow on the route)
  • Light gloves
  • Hiking boots (can be borrowed)
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Water
  • Snacks
  • Camera
  • Any personal or medical items you may need

Peak 2 Peak 360 gondola ticket for Whistler Blackcomb are required for this tour. You can buy them online, from our village office, or at any Whistler Blackcomb ticket window. Please purchase tickets before the day of your tour to avoid being late for the tour start.

*Please arrive at the meeting location 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time. Late arrivals forfeit the full tour price.

You are responsible to provide and carry your own food and water.

The guide will establish a pace suitable for the tour participants. A moderate level of fitness is recommended as this is a very active day. We cannot allow any participant to turn back in mid-tour, for safety reasons. Our guides are experienced and very patient with guests who may need some encouragement or help along the way.

Tours are run at a ratio of up to 6 guests per guide. If you have a larger group, we can provide extra guides.

Important Information

We strongly recommend you purchase insurance for Trip Cancellation, Emergency Evacuation and Adventure Sports Coverage (some backcountry adventures are excluded from coverage).

Emergency Evacuation and Medical Insurance

This coverage provides you with emergency air rescue if required and full medical. Parks Canada provides free evacuation within the Parks and if you are a Canadian resident your medical will be covered by your provincial health plan (except ambulance/air ambulance transport). We strongly recommend international visitors purchase this insurance.

Emergency evacuation insurance is compulsory for all our hut trips, as these typically take place outside of Parks Canada’s jurisdiction.

Trip Cancellation Insurance

To prepare for unforeseen circumstances we strongly recommend purchasing Trip Cancellation Insurance at the time of booking your trip. Trip Cancellation insurance covers many scenarios to reimburse you for cancelled trips outside of your control.

All prices are quoted in Canadian dollars and are exclusive of a 5% tax (GST). Prices are subject to change. Guide gratuities are not included in fees.

Our preferred method of payment is by Mastercard or VISA. We also accept bank e-transfers and cash.

• For 1-2 day adventures/courses booking must be paid in full.
• For longer adventures/courses a deposit of 50% is required at the time of booking.
• The remaining balance is due 30 days before the start date.
• Bookings made less than 30 days before adventure/course must be paid in full.

Next day bookings are taken up until 5pm the day before any tour or course. *Subject to guide availability

Full Terms & Conditions

Mountain Skills Academy takes mountain safety very seriously, however there is no way to completely mitigate risk in alpine environments. Prior to undertaking any of our courses or trips we require you to sign a waiver.

Mountain conditions are extremely unpredictable and can change at short notice. Our guides endeavor to undertake the routes and/or peaks that our clients desire, however our decisions will be impacted by conditions. Unfortunately we are not able to offer refunds if conditions are not suitable to undertake a particular route on the day you have booked. We will however make every effort to take you out for the best day possible given the conditions.

Applicable to all tours and courses*: If conditions force us to cancel a course or trip we will do all we can to accommodate you at another date. If this isn’t possible we will offer a full refund. We reserve the right to decline rescheduling dates based on availability.  *Does not apply to first aid courses.

Late Arrival Policy

Guests arriving more than 15 minutes late for an activity forfeit 100% of the tour price. Tours leave promptly; it is recommended to arrive 15 minutes early to sort out gear and sign waivers.

Adventures Cancellation Policy

Half Day and Full Day Tours

  • With less than 48 hours of the tour start time:  Cancellation will result in a 100% forfeit of tour price, no rescheduling.
  • With more than 48 hours notice:  We will reschedule or refund with no penalty.
Multi Day Programs
  • 2 Day Programs: Within 10 days cancellation notice will result in a 100% forfeit of tuition, Outside of 10 days: $25 penalty to reschedule per booking or full refund.
  • 3+ Day Programs: 30 days cancellation notice will result in a 100% forfeit of tuition, Outside of 30 days: $75 penalty to reschedule or full refund.
  • Customized Trips: 30 days cancellation notice will result in a 100% forfeit of tuition, Outside of 30 days: $75penalty to reschedule per booking or full refund.

**On all multi day trips pre-arranged add-ons are non-refundable (food, accommodation, etc).

Courses Cancellation Policy

1-2 Day Courses

  • Within 10 days of the course date: Cancellation notice will result in a 100% forfeit of tuition
  • Outside of 10 days: $75 penalty to reschedule per booking or full refund.

3+ Day Courses

  • Within 30 days of the course date: Cancellation notice will result in a 100% forfeit of tuition
  • Outside of 30 days: $75 penalty to reschedule per booking or full refund.

**If you are able to find someone else to take your place on a course, please let us know as we are more than happy to transfer bookings.

Minors (under the age of 19) and custodial groups (youths affiliated with an institution where a parent or legal guardian is not present on the trip) may register for certain trips and courses with a letter of consent from parents or legal guardian as well, they must sign a waiver and have a parent or legal guardian sign a waiver. Further, we abide by the Parks Canada Custodial Group winter backcountry policy as outlined here.
