Discover a Canadian glacier atop Whistler Mountain this summer!
Duration: 2 Hours
Walk across a beautiful alpine snow slope or a breathtaking glacial moraine and wildflower meadow (depending on the time of year and mountain conditions) as you approach the Whistler Bowl and glacier.
As you look up at the bowl you will see the Whistler Peak. Along the way your guide will tell you about how the last ice age interacted with the terrain to form the beautiful coast mountain ranges. This popular tour is great for people of all ages and abilities, and is especially fun for families with children.
For families with older active children the Glacier Ascent tour is recommended. As with all activities in the beautiful Canadian Alpine each day is subject to varying mountain conditions – ask our staff what the mountain has in store for you and your visit!
**The price of the tour does not include a gondola ticket. Gondola tickets are available for purchase through our office.**
Meet the guide at 8:45 am at the Escape Route Alpine Demo Centre down in the village before taking you to the mountaintop office.
2:00 pm Adventure:
Meet at our Mountaintop Office at 12:45 pm. To get to the mountaintop office, take the Whistler Gondola all the way to the top. Walk out of the gondola station about 100m and look for the wooden building on the right.
Note: The Whistler Village Gondola takes 30 minutes from bottom to top and line-ups can get quite busy, so plan to get to the top with plenty of time before the start of your tour.
At the mountaintop office, the guide will have you sign a waiver and be outfitted with your climbing and glacier gear. You can also borrow hiking boots here.
All glacier equipment is included.
- Weatherproof shell jacket and pants. Shorts are acceptable depending on conditions
- Warm layer(s)
- 2 pairs of socks, preferably synthetic or wool hiking socks
- Light gloves
- Hiking boots
- Warm hat
- Sunglasses and sunscreen
- Small Backpack
- Personal items you may require
At the top of the gondola you will be in an alpine mountain environment where weather and conditions can change fast – it is best to be prepared with extra clothing layers.
