Price: $199/per person | $769/private (up to 6ppl)
Duration: 1 Day
Location: Whistler
Prerequisites: Average Fitness & Intermediate Skier
Minimum Age: 16 yrs
The self-reliance of small teams is crucial when traveling in glaciated terrain, as any problems encountered can be severely magnified. Compared to a smaller three-person team, a single surface rescuer carries less weight to act as an effective surface fall arresting force. This means that the rescuer must support the weight of the victim while they build an anchor.

The day begins with a review and refinement of the transceiver, probe, and shovel skills learned in AST1. It then progresses to advanced techniques that will help you become an exceptional team member. Topics covered include alternate search strategies, flagging and marking, analogue modes, and the latest probing and shoveling methods. Students will also learn how to handle more complex scenarios by focusing on effective resource management and triage, as well as how to approach situations involving multiple burials, deep burials, and burials that are in close proximity to one another.
