Program INFORMATION

This comprehensive course is a must to kick-start your rock climbing career. Designed for those who are new to outdoor rock climbing and want to learn everything in one go. Top-rope, lead, sport, trad, multi-pitch, rock rescue: after this course, you will be able to climb it all – and at a higher grade due to the professional coaching and instruction!

You can expect to leave the course fully autonomous, with a strong foundation in all aspects of rock climbing.

This program includes the following courses:

If students would like to schedule extra tours/courses or trips not included in this program they will be given a membership card which will unlock deals throughout the season which include:

This program runs over 6 full days and can be taken over the course of 4 weeks or 3 months. You design the perfect calendar to work around your plans! If you already have the skills taught in any of the courses within the program please contact us and we can look into removing select courses.

  • 19-20: Intro to Trad + Trad Progression
  • 26-27: Intro to Multi-Pitch + Rock Rescue

  • 9-10: Intro to Outdoor Rock + Sport & Leading
  • 16-17: Intro to Trad + Trad Progression
  • 23-14: Intro to Multi-Pitch + Rock Rescue
  • Clothing (Plan ahead, check the weather forecast, and dress accordingly):
    • Climbing pants (light pants that allow maximum mobility)
    • T-shirt
    • Mid layer fleece or wool top
    • Weatherproof shell jacket
    • Down or synthetic insulating “puffy” jacket
    • Warm hat
    • Light gloves
    • Sunglasses and sunscreen
    • Approach shoes
    • Daypack 25-35L
    Individual Equipment

    If you have any specialized equipment not listed below feel free to bring it along and ask your guide about it. (Ie micro traxion, grigri, pulleys, etc.)

    • Rock climbing shoes
    • Harness
    • Helmet
    • Locking carabiners
    • Chalk bag
    • Hiking pole (optional)
    Rock Rescue Kit:
    • 5 x Locking Carabiners
    • 4 x Non-locking Carabiners
    • 1 x 120cm Sling
    • 2 x 5m (7mm) Cordelette
    • 1 x 1.5m (7mm) Cordelette or ‘Hollow block’
    • 1 x Auto-Block/Belay Device (Petzl Reverso or BD ATC Guide)

    The above gear can be purchased from MEC, Climb On (37873 Cleveland Ave, Squamish) or Escape Route (40222 Glenalder Pl, Squamish).

    Food and water are not included. Bring lunch, snacks, and plenty of water.

    This program is designed for those with previous belaying and climbing skills. If you are new to climbing we recommend taking our Rock Climbing Starter Course.

    Below is the full curriculum for this program. If students would like to add additional products to their curriculum this can be indicated to the MSAA team after booking.
